Perching Falcon[Open]

It didn't take him as long as he expected, but here is was Konohagakure. Internally it wasn't much different than his home village being Kumogakure, but the borders were different. Konoha, being dense forests and woods and Kumogakure having towering mountains and beaches, he also noticed the lack of sea breeze. No matter where you were in Kumogakure, you could always smell the salt lightly dancing in the air from the ocean. But here, Mateo smelled . . . Dango. "Hmm doesn't sound half bad right now."

Fiddling inside of his messenger bag at his hip, he withdrew some money. He wasn't sure if Kumogakure and Konohagakure had the same currency, but surely there was a conversion system if not. Uhh do you guys take Kumogakure currency? The vendor looked at him and examined his clothes. His question seemed ignored. "Interesting clothes you got there, but I guess each village is different. How many sticks you want?" Mateo's question was supposedly answered, in another question. "Ehhh three'll be fine . . . actually make that five." The man looked at him as if he were crazy "Three to five is a big leap, now if I see these in a trash can somewhere I'm coming after you. I don't know about Kumogakure, but in Konoha times are hard and we don't waste food." Mateo listened then bowed. "Yessir I understand, thank you for your service." He wasn't sure why the man was a little sour towards him, but surely it was unnecessary.

"Eh to each his own." He shrugged and nonchalantly placed a stick with three rice dango on it into his mouth. Upon removal, the stick was clean and he was chewing eagerly. Not the best he had tasted, but not the worst a unique hint of something, probably only found in Konoha.

Wandering around, he finally chewed down his first stick of his meal, now he found himself in front of the Hokage building. It was getting the finishing touches of paint and was looking pretty darn nice. Taking a bite of his food, but only on ball he stood and examined it. Not in a casual way, but to really take it in and have something to report back. "Looks like a typical building, circular in shape, flat platform on top, probably about three stories . . ."
Taking a moment he activated his Toraigan. His ruby hair draping down to meet his eye brows his Third Eye would be unseen. "Yeaup three stories and multiple rooms. One considerably large than the rest, probably a war room, ehh just a basic Kage Building." He took another bite, while looking at the chakra signatures of the people working inside. They were still painting, like those on the outside.

"That's a let down, eh hope this place isn't boring, should have asked Ginjo to come." Not an old friend, but Ginjo was a reliable and good one. Ginjo was more than likely Mateo's first friend in Kumogakure and positively his best. An awkward friendship due to the not necessarily blending personalities, but they managed. In combat especially, a tag team to avoid.

Taking another bite of his second stick of Dango, he found the wooden tooth pick empty. "I should have settled for three, ugh I always overestimate myself." He knew he wouldn't be able to finish all five sticks and even as a promotion of some sort, for buying five, his fifth stick was loaded with five balls of Dango. Mateo sighed and sat down on a bench in what he guess was the villages center. It had a minimal amount of flowers in bordered plots and a bit of trees in plots also. Steady stream of people, some carrying wooden planks rebuilding, some mothers walking home their children. "Peaceful little place Konoha is." Whipping his legs around, from sitting formal, he now had his legs propped up on the arm rest of the bench. His head resting on the opposite, he took a bite of Dango and forced himself to eat it. Chewing slowly almost in a rhythm Mateo was staring into the clouds, before bringing his left hand in front of his chest. Forming the half tiger seal, his Toraigan went dormant and the Third Eye faded. Poking his forehead just to be sure, he was glad he didn't feel the pain of a poke in the eye.

"Hmmm how should I do this festival. I'm not sure what Leaf Ninja are into. Well maybe it can be more cultural, like us showing them what we have in Kumogakure. Yeah that's good, oh and fireworks, that'll be the perfect finish." Placing his messenger bag on his stomach he produced a notepad and a pencil. It lacked an eraser, being a reflection of his lifestyle. Once you make a mistake you don't erase, forgive, but don't forget. Recalling his thought, then scribbling down, he made a mental note to go to a messenger station. "Whew I'm tired, hope they don't mind me dozing off." He thought, while he peered around, scanning his surroundings. Everyone was minding their business, probably not worried about him the least bit. So with that, he tipped his hat over his face and decided to nap. Sleep with your Third Eye open." His elders voice echoed in his mind. It was a teaching and a form of training, but with a sigh he took the principle to heart. Forming the Half-Tiger seal, he reawakened his Toraigan, and took another bite of Dango. Chewing harshly, he forced himself to down the lump.

Jace was simply walking, minding his own buisness... he saw Mateo looking tired as heck and said, "Hey, You seem awfully tired, you need somewhere to stay?" I ask, hoping that he would say no, but then I wouldn't have to feel guilty.

Mateo heard someones voice perk up from near him, but why? "Looks like the teachings have paid off." His face and Toraigan hidden behind his hat and hair, he examined the chakra signature in a hidden manner. The colors of the body were surely awkward. Mixes of yellows and a hint of green. The voice sounded innocent, but there was something deeper in the offer, but what was it. Mateo wasn't known enough for it to be a plot or malicious intent. If there was negativity, the man's chakra's would have been red, but instead it was green. Not a calm green, just blatant green.

"Seems like there's a bit more beneath your offer hmm?" His face still hidden behind his hat, he casually tipped it up, to reveal his face. His ruby locks however, still covered his hidden jewel, for that was for no one to see.

"Not really, I just thought you looked sleepy, but, I could allow you to stay at my place for free under 1 condition." I say, smiling, "You let me test a Genjutsu on you."

Mateo held back a chuckle. "Why is he hiding something? It's a shame he doesn't know I can detect lying." "Test a Genjutsu?" The over dressed teen, came to a sitting position and shifted through his bag. "Looks like I have enough money for an inn, I'll pass on your . . . offer." He chuckled and stood up stretching. Further examining the man, he didn't know why but he was slightly amused. "Is this how Konoha nin act? What if I was a homeless man, he would test a Genjutsu on me in exchange for a night of rest. Such . . . " He sighed and deactivated his hidden Toraigan. "Don't let his impurity, taint my mind. To each his own." He pivoted around, now facing Jace.

"Why would you make such an offer, it seems . . . distasteful." Mateo was truly curious what Jace was thinking. He could read emotions, but not thoughts, but at this point Mateo was glad he couldn't. Looking into the mans eyes, his mouth moved to the side portaying confusion.

"I don't understand why. I am offering you a place to sleep. I won't do anything to you." He was slsightly lieing. "It's only me whom would do this, I need to test my Genjutsu."

Mateo shook his head. He knew Genjutsu fiddled with the mind and Mateo treasured his more than anyone would ever know. It wasn't a toy for practice, it was a jewel for strengthening. "I apologize, but it seems I just value my mind, more than you will ever understand. I have been refining it ever since I can remember, so I will not allow you to alter my perception and dwell in its corners." He bowed before Jace, not out of respect, but out of politeness. "Maybe you have a friend that would allow you to tinker with them. In Kumogakure, each shinobi has a partner, maybe you ave one also?" Mateo's head tilted to the side, as his locks of blood red hair followed suit.

"Nope, That's not how we do it." I say, leaning on a wall. "We just become random groups and go upon missions."

Mateo thought, the system was a little fragile. Random groups did mean the ninja's knew more people, but they would lack the power of bonds. He thought of Ginjo again and wondered if this ninja had someone reliable to watch his back. In Kumo only two ninja's were sent on missions also. An A and B combo, but one was not useless without the other. But here they weren't worried about people coming together and blending, only thrown task to be completed.

Mateo then remembered the village was lacking a Kage and prayed that whomever was chosen would create order. Then a chuckle escaped his lips. "I wonder if two Kumogakure ninja's are as powerful as a 'random' group of Konoha nin. Surely it sounds that way." "Tell you what, we can have a spar. If you win, test your Genjutsu on me and I will share a little secret with you. You lose, no Genjutsu testing on me annnnnd I get the satisfaction of knowing I beat a Konoha ninja." He extended a hand to shake on the offer. He didn't know what to expect, seeing how Konoha was lacking order.

"Alright." I said, smiling. "Bring it."

Maybe the man was just quiet, but the one liners were really starting to pester Mateo. Was social interaction a taboo here and was Mateo expected to just fight the man right here, right now? He knew he was new to the area, but a training ground shouldn't be a foreign area. If Mateo had the mind to, he could have easily took advantage of Jace leaning against the wall. His weight would be off from him leaning and with him apparently being a Genjutsu user, Mateo felt close combat would be the simplest way to bring him down.

"Am I suppose to attack right now or what. You guys don't have a training ground? I mentioned I'm from Kumogakure, so I'm not entirely knowledgeable of where that facility would be located." Maybe the man was just dense, who knew. One thing Mateo knew was that, he wasn't being given much to work with.

"Unless you want to fight here." I say, then point down the street, "Then that grounds is over there."

Mateo tried to retain it, but failed. His laughed aloud, but covered his mouth to excuse himself. "I'm sorry, but what of the citizens. You want to just fight while they are around? Mothers escorting children. Men working hard to finish rebuilding your damaged village." He shook his head and wondered what was wrong with the man. But he wanted to be foolish, it was his choice. Mateo had already examined the way he was leaning and decided to just end this scenario of tom foolery.

Already close enough, since the two were just engaged in conversation. Was quick to crouch and send an upward kick at Jace's chin. If not avoided, which would be difficult, considering the spacing and having his weight against the wall, Jace would find himself airborne and slightly disoriented. His equilibrium would be off and Mateo would be leaping up to meet his frame, that would be over the building he was previously leaning on, if the primary kick landed.

Suzuha was enjoying the taste of her dango, working her tongue around the curvature of the sweet ball, when she saw Jace and Meteo conversing. Normally, she would not have cared about the two, but what caught her eye was the formal yet foreign uniform of Mateo's. She took a recon position by shifting towards an alley, hiding within the shade under the sun. She had a good view of Mateo and Jace, although she could not hear what they were saying, especially with the noise surrounding her. "Hmmmm......" Normally, she would not go for something so shady, but sometimes she had to play the kunoichi spy - the seductress, in order to learn about her environment. At last, she finished her dango.

He rolled to the side off the wall and said, "A sneak attack ins't very nice. Come, let's go to the Training area." I say, starting to walk towards the Area.

"A sneak attack isn't nice, yet you ask if I wanted to fight here or not. You aren't making much sense." coming to a stand he lifted his shoulders. Hopefully Jace was just a unique case, because the ninja here are really . . . yeah. Noticing a shadow shake in the corner of his peripheral vision, he peered harder, but decided it was his eyes, being tired playing tricks. He could activate his Toraigan, but that would be a waste. Shaking his head while following the simple Konoha nin, he decided Konoha was indeed a foreign land.

How horrid! When Meteo attacked Jace, she was just about to launch into the fight and let her will be known. Feeling pity for the boy for his retreating from Meteo, she decided to pursue this matter as part of her own nosy persistence. Suzuha would blend in with the crowd, keeping a good 15 meter distance between them, and would never look directly towards Meteo until he turned around the block, in which case she would follow them and peep behind whatever obstacles would be in the way. "Suspi-cious........." she singed.

Many a people who saw her pointed at her.
